Keeping a small stowaway of candy, always by my side

I am from the quiet country side

Where a day of fun is an adventure

From where an animal is your day’s companion

I am from Saturday cartoons

Rocky and Bullwinkle

Big Bird and Elmo

Batman and Robin

I am from a stream out yonder

Fishing for minnows

Days of endless swimming

Searching for snails

I am from hoping I could play 10 minutes longer

Weeks seeming longer

Waiting to be a “Big Boy”

Finding fun in almost anything

Counting down the days until my Birthday

Imagining what it’s like to be like I am now
